The "OG." This isn't one of my early pieces, but it's definitely the one I'm most known for, and has garnered the most attention since I drew him.
Inspiration: I have an old Rubik's Cube kicking around my studio (which I do NOT remember how to solve) and one day, as it sat on my drawing table, I wondered what the perfect animal would be to actually work on a Rubik's Cube. Voila! A raccoon, of course!

Colored pencil & pastel
Custom wood frame with Museum glass

Family Time
If you're familiar with downtown Spokane, specifically the Riverside area, you've seen the giant Red Wagon. Maybe you've gone down the slide!
Inspiration: This is an iconic local feature, so of course I had to draw it! And, as an artist who enjoys narrative and whimsical art, I included a family of deer enjoying their time together.

Framed size: 25"x29.5"
Colored pencil & pastel
Custom wood frame with Museum glass

Repurposed
An abandoned mailbox on forgotten farmland makes a perfect home for a bluebird couple.
Inspiration: Inspiration: Part of a 4-piece series, contrasting how nature adapts to and, sometimes, overcomes our neglectful and destructive tendencies.

Framed size: 20.5"x25.5"
Graphite, charcoal, colored pencil
Custom wood frame with Museum glass

Fall Fun
A very talented squirrel juggling gourds, among Fall leaves.
Inspiration: I wanted to create a light-hearted seasonal image. Whimsical, and with an animal, of course!
Art size: 11"x14"
Framed size: 20"x24"
Colored pencil & pastel
Price: $475

Growth
A broken window in a likely abandoned structure, with a broken flower pot on the windowsill. While the scene looks sad and forgotten, a flower thrives among the ruins as a Swallowtail butterfly visits.
Inspiration: Part of a 4-piece series, contrasting how nature adapts to and, sometimes, overcomes our neglectful and destructive tendencies.
Art size: 15"x20"
Framed size: 22"x26"
Graphite, charcoal, colored pencil
Price: $1050

Christmas Quail
A festive California Quail, with his favorite ornament hanging from his topknot, as one does, with a very snowy but cozy background scene.
Inspiration: This guy was primarily created as a Christmas card image, but the original is framed and looking for its forever home!
Art size: 7.5"x9.5"
Framed size: 13"x16"
Colored pencil & pastel
Price: $225

Spokane Steam Plant
The historic Steam Plant in downtown Spokane, with Black Billed Magpies soaring in front of it.
Inspiration: These iconic brick smokestacks can be seen from all around downtown Spokane. With an interesting history, it's now a well known restaurant. Of course I had to draw it, and include animals!
Art size: 11"x14"
Framed size: 18"x22"
Colored pencil & pastel
Price: $575

Ladybug
A bright, red ladybug exploring some Forget-Me-Nots.
Inspiration: Until a few years ago, I didn't realize that ladybugs gathered in massive swarms! I saw such a spectacle during a fall hike a few years back. One of my rare, non-conceptual pieces. Sometimes I just want to draw something pretty!
Art size: 7"x10"
Framed size: 13"x16"
Colored pencil
Custom wood frame with Museum glass.
Price: $300

Proud Mama
Who doesn't love baby ducks? This Mallard mama has four of them, including one shy little peep that's not so sure about leaving mom's side.
Inspiration: If you haven't figured it out by now, I love birds. I have a life list, and annual list and a yard list (I'm a nerd, I know.) I'm not as adept at identifying waterfowl, but Mallards are pretty numerous and easy to spot. Another non-conceptual piece, but one I really enjoyed drawing; especially the water, which has always scared me. Drawing it, not being in it!
Art size: 8"x10"
Framed size: 15"x17"
Colored pencil & pastel
Custom wood frame with Museum glass.
Price: $275

Insecurities
Three House Sparrows in a tree, wearing colorful masks over their beaks.
Inspiration: We all wear masks for various reasons. These guys are trying to hide their self-perceived imperfections by adorning themselves with large, colorful "beak masks." Similarly, we often rely on our own adornments (visible or not) to protect ourselves.
Side note: the amount of blue indigo pencil I used in the background was eye opening!
Art size: 11"x14"
Framed size: 18"x22"
Colored pencil
Price: $475

Song Sparrow
A happy little song sparrow, sitting on a broken branch.
Inspiration: For the 13+ years I've lived in Spokane Valley, we've had a song sparrow live in a tree just outside our kitchen window. Sometimes he's a bachelor, sometimes he has a lady friend. This is part of a series of Inland Northwest birds I've wanted to create, but never find the time.
Art size: 8"x8"
Framed size: 9"x9"
Colored pencil & pastel
Mounted on wood panel and float-framed
Price: $225

Lovebirds
Two beautiful lovebirds, perched together.
Inspiration: I wanted to draw some colorful birds. Mission accomplished! Ha! Funny story, I wanted to create a background, but that failed. I liked how the birds turned out, so I decided to very carefully cut the bird images out of the background with an exacto knife, then mounted it on cradle board, varnished it, and float-framed it. I like how it turned out. In person, it looks even better!
Art size: 8"x8"
Framed size: 9"x9"
Colored pencil
Mounted on wood panel and float-framed
Price: $150

She's Mine
An alert rooster, protecting his lady.
Inspiration: My grandma in South Carolina lived on a small farm and always had chickens running around the yard. As a little kid, they fascinated me. (Birds, fascinating me? You don't say!)
Art size: 8"x8"
Framed size: 14"x14"
Colored pencil
Price: $225

The Raven
A depiction of the Edgar Allan Poe poem.
Inspiration: Created for a poetry-themed group show in the Liberty Gallery in early 2025. Artists could choose any poem to create a piece of art to represent.
If you're a huge fan of ravens and/or of Edgar Allan Poe, this is a MUST HAVE!

Charcoal & pastel
Mounted on cradle board & varnished

Spokane Blocks & Marmots
This is a one-of-a-kind framed print (100% of original size)
Inspiration: Right across from the iconic Red Wagon in the Spokane Riverfront area there are giant concrete blocks, made to look like little wood blocks many of us played with as kids. There are also a slew of marmots in that area. I've never seen them on the blocks, but if they were, I imagine it would look like this.
Art size: 15"x18"

Graphite, charcoal, digital color
Custom wood frame with Museum glass
