A few years ago, I came across an abandoned Studebaker truck in an overgrown field near Blewitt Pass in central Washington. I had to snap a photo of it to keep as reference. Not long after that, I decided to draw the front end of it and add a tentative pair of mice, using it as their own "safe space." This drawing took over 100 hours to complete, and it remains one of my all-time favorites, and recently received the Best Drawing in Show at the Art on the Green festival in Coeur d'Alene, ID in August of 2024.
